In order to make your time beneficial and useful, I have included models and links so that you can do some reading and reflection before you come along.
Jamie McKenzie states that when exploring Inquiry learning models
" professional development should include substantial opportunities for the adult learners to employ the research model to explore an essential adult question drawn from their own life or their subject area"
Therefore the aims of the workshop with in the time frame we have, is to give you an opportunity to:
discuss the models
explore a model by using that model to inquire into a question/ topic that will be of benefit to you educationally.
present your findings
In an article written for " Information Literacy in an Information Society" for the ERIC Digest.........

INQUIRY MODELS
From the definition of information literacy came 43+ Inquiry learning Models. While the intension is not to investigate them all, the idea is to have some exposure to 4 and work within one of them.
I've included links to each model for you to do some background reading and reflection.
Jamie McKenzie.
The Research Cycle.
While Jamie outlines a number of other models, from Page 3 onwards he outlines the steps for his model and expands each. From my experience with different models, the strength is the so what factor....... now that I have this information and made informed decisions what am I going to do..... I'd be interested in your thoughts.
INFORMED
I like this model because I know Derek, have used it and its welll scaffolded. The processes/ skills and outcomes from each stage are outlined. I also like it because it has that so what factor, the M for make it known and make a difference. This in itself encourages the students to extend their thinking even further.
Many schools in Nelson / Marlborough have worked with Trevor and are using SAUCE as their Inquiry model or have adapted and adopted SAUCE to construct their own models.
The outline of the model begins on page 4. This model is cyclic, in that if you stalling in your quest for information or achieving the results you desire, then returning to the question ( scene) or the way you intend to acquire the information are able to be reviewed.
