Our third lead teacher day is Tuesday 4 August, Otakaro 216.

Otakaro 216 9:00 - 3:30 pm.

With changes in the wind and the clusters goal to build capacity our day will be focused around sharing and new learning.

I'd like each of us to lead a small session of up to half an hour with the group on some form of new learning that you have undertaken, e-learning strategies that you have developed since we last. As some of us are leading cluster breakout sessions concurrently this will be an opportunity for us all to share the learning and ensure that we come away from the day with at least 6 new tools in our toolkit. This can also be an opportunity to run through your workshop with your colleagues if you haven't had that chance before.

Our second lead teacher day is Tuesday 5 May.

Otakaro 217 9:00 - 3:30 pm.

As we build towards capacity there will be opportunities for you to integrate ICT and e-learning into your classroom programe, and develop ideas to share across your school.

So on that theme, the reading is Technology: To Use of Infuse. Nancy Sulla.
Please download and bring this along with you, either in hard copy or digital format on your laptop. On page 3 are 6 strategies a good facilitator can use to help students infuse / integrate e-learning and ICT into their learning. This reading is American and 9 years old. New Zealand teachers have these types of conversations with students metacognitively, so this reading is often an affirmation of what good teachers and practices we have here. I'd like you to share an instance with the group where you have seamlessly integrated or infused e-learning into your class programme.

Evaluation of Lead Teacher Day.

What did you gain from this day, and how will you be able to use this to influence your practice?
Reading the article on clip art and the discussion technique was very useful. Rachel and Chris
Is there something that you would like more information on?
What do you feel you can contribute next time?
Making sure we have professional reading to share and discuss. Rachel and Chris
Sharing what we do as lead teachers within our own school to educate and motivate Rachel and Chris

What could be improved on to make the day better for you?
Reflections and Suggestions for lead teacher day.
Rachel Couling and Chris Quinn
See the value of sharing professional reading. :) We understand the underlying reasons for 'personal read' sharing however we feel as we meet for one day only, we need to focus more on ICT. A timetable for the day will be great before the day. Maybe a blank timetable could be posted and suggestions could be made by lead teachers. Jocelyn could then finalise the timetable one week prior to the workshop.
This week we will need some dedicated time to discuss with workshop partners to finalise the content and presentation details.
Those not taking a workshop could be spending time to discuss what they are going to present next time.
One block of time should be allocated for lead teachers to learn a new ICT skill and its application in the classroom. (run by Jocelyn or a guest speaker)
One block of time for open discussion/ideas as lead teachers and our role in the school- development of staff education/motivation.Discuss how others are doing this at their school - any issues etc.

I want to spend some time with you looking at Herrmann's Brain Model. We'll discover which quadrants of the brain you function best in. Then we will begin to think about the people in our group,,,, and of course the other teachers on your staff. How can you use the information you have to facilitate PD with them.

The expectation is that you, as the ICT lead teacher, will now go back to your school and run a hands on staff meeting with your teachers.
